The origins of the Villa go back to 1372.
Completely restored, respecting the pre-existing architectural design and
the most important decorative features of the building, in its centuries
of life the Villa has had the singular and unrepeatable destiny of hosting
personalities such as Galileo Galilei and the great poet Ugo Foscolo.
In 1815 the Countess Spinelli degli Albizi embelished the garden with a
strange metal parasol which gave the Villa its name and by which it is still
known to this day.
Far from the congestion of the city traffic, yet less than ten minutes away
from the railway station of S. Maria Novella and the airport, the Villa
is immersed in a splendid park of over 12.000 sqm and facing one of the
world's most suggestive view.
